AIPA The Wrecking Ball Fusion HD Surfboard - Grey

The Wrecking Ball takes inspiration from an experimental Ben Aipa design from 1977 and is positioned between a fish and a high-performance shortboard. It combines the speed and paddle power of a groveller with a more responsive outline for surfers who still want performance in smaller or less powerful waves.

The wide, fuller outline through the front half of the board helps with paddling, planing and generating speed. From there, Aipa’s distinctive STING wing pulls the outline in through the hip before flowing into a fuller double-pronged bat tail. This combination is designed to provide lift, drive and bite while keeping the board responsive through tighter turns.

The bottom contours have been updated for modern performance, with one of the standout features being Aipa’s hydroplane-inspired Bevel Rails. This 45-degree split-rail design reduces the amount of rail surface contacting the water, helping the board transition more quickly from rail to rail while maintaining control through turns.

The Wrecking Ball is designed for conditions ranging from weaker waist-high surf through to more powerful overhead waves, making it suitable for days when a traditional shortboard may feel underpowered.

Below-average to above-average conditions, from approximately waist high to overhead.

Fin Configuration

Ride as a quad in average conditions through to overhead surf, or switch to a thruster when additional hold and control are preferred in larger waves.
